Have you shut off your water?

Have you shut off your water?
We’re all guilty of it… Laziness. How often do we isolate the water to our shower, our bath, our washing machine? No matter what your answer was to that question, the real answer is not nearly as often as we should. The most common occurrence of us isolating the water is when we go on holiday and we will be away from our property for an extended period of time. This is rather counter-intuitive when we really rationalise why we do this. Turning off the water in case of a pipe bursting whilst we’re away seems a logical thing to do, but just an hour or two of water damage from a burst pipe is going to cause extensive damage and this can happen anytime. It could happen when we pop out for our weekly shop, when we’re out for dinner or when we’re at work. A very high majority of us will not isolate water at these times, yet we’re at equal risk of water damage and pipes bursting during these times, so why don’t we isolate our water… Quite simply it’s because the water isolation points in our house are usually in places that aren’t easily accessible on a day-to-day basis. Once or twice a year it’s worth going through the hassle to isolate it when you’re going on holiday but when you increase that to once or twice a day most people can’t be bothered and just chance it. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was an isolation tap valve that could be connected in a convenient location and was as easy as turning a regular tap on or off. As the tension in this blog builds and we roll up to the big reveal I can hear the anticipation as I type away on my keyboard… Can I get a drum roll? Easy to turn off and on isolation taps for both hot and cold water are now available from Insignia. Isn’t that a surprise following the build up and the fact you’re on a blog about isolation tap valves? Available as part of the new innovation range alongside our water leak alarms, our goal is to create a safer bathroom for you and in the event of the worst case scenario and a pipe bursting there will be minimal damage. Yes most of us have insurance for this kind of event but do you really want to go through all the hassle that it could entail? The answer is categorically no and with this in mind we’re developing more to keep your home safe and dry. Now I bet you’re expecting them to cost an arm and a leg aren’t you? Well, they don’t. Retailing at less than £10 each it seems too good to be true. At this low price the question is not, can you afford them? The question is can you afford to not have them?
